The Amsterdam Sweet originated on the farm of Joseph Britten in Amsterdam, New York. An incorrect alternate name, "High Top Sweet," has been applied to this variety.

Hardy; a vigorous, stout, upright grower. An early and moderate annual bearer.

Fruit

Size and Form: Medium, roundish oblate, slightly flattened at the ends.

Skin: Pale greenish yellow, striped and splashed with light and dark bright red.

Stem: Short, small.

Cavity: Medium.

Basin: Large, deep, slightly plaited.

Flesh and Flavor: White, half fine, tender, juicy, rather rich sweet, slightly aromatic.
