Origin/History

The parent tree was found in the commune of Camsegret, France. This variety is distinct from Beurré Antoinette, another and probably earlier variety of the same name. References: U.S.D.A. Patent Office Report 397 (1858); Guide Pratique 82 (1876).

Described as a handsome pyramidal tree of promising growth. In the 1858 report from the Department of Agriculture, the variety was noted in Massachusetts for its promising development.

The parent tree was found in the commune of Camsegret, Fr., and is not to be confused with Beurré Antoinette, another and probably earlier variety. Fruit medium size, handsome; flesh perfumed; Oct. and Nov. In the report of the Department of Agriculture for 1858 it was said in Massachusetts to make "a handsome pyramidal tree, promising well."
