Size and Form: Medium. Obovate, inclining to pyriform (Downing); obovate, obtuse at the stalk end (Hedrick).

Stem: Long, curved (Downing).

Basin: Abrupt, corrugated (Downing).

Skin: Greenish yellow (Downing); yellowish-green (Hedrick). Marked with russet — slightly netted and patched with russet (Downing); specked with russet (Hedrick). Slightly reddened on the side exposed to the sun (Hedrick).

Flesh and Flavor: Flesh whitish (Downing); white, delicate (Hedrick). Melting. Juice abundant (Hedrick), sugary, vinous. Astringency is noted by both sources but characterized differently: "a little astringent" (Downing) vs. "sometimes disagreeably astringent" (Hedrick). Overall quality rated Good (Downing) and moderate (Hedrick).

Fruit medium, obovate, inclining to pyriform. Skin greenish yellow, slightly netted and patched with russet. Stalk long, curved. Calyx nearly closed. Basin abrupt, corrugated. Flesh whitish, juicy, melting, vinous, a little astringent. Good. Middle of August.
