Demoncrate was received by the USDA from Dr. G. Wate of Hobart, Tasmania, in 1959. The variety was documented in H.H. Fisher's A Survey of Apple Clones in the United States (1963), with records maintained at the Agricultural Experiment Station, Department of Pomology, Geneva, New York.

Size and Form: Large, oblate.

Skin: Covered with dark blush.

Flesh and Flavor: Creamy, subacid, poor.
