Origin/History German dessert apple. Downing remarks that it "should bear the test of American palates before being highly praised," suggesting it was not yet established in American cultivation at the time of publication (1900).

Tree A fine grower and productive.

Fruit Medium, roundish. Skin clear yellow with light red, slightly broken into stripes in the sun. Flesh fine, yellowish, firm, juicy, rich, aromatic, subacid.

Season December.

Uses Dessert.
