Donald was received at the USDA from the Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa, Canada in 1940. A second accession (PI No. 143175) was received from Canada in 1941 and distributed to the U.S. Plant Introduction Station at Glenn Dale, Maryland.

Skin Dull red with stripes.

Flesh and Flavor Creamy in texture. Subacid. Soft to firm consistency. Quality fair.
