Origin and History

Doux Lozan was received in the United States from France in 1948. The variety has been maintained at the U.S. Plant Introduction Station in Glenn Dale, Maryland under Plant Introduction number 162546. A clone of the same accession (PI No. 162546) was subsequently transferred from Glenn Dale to the Agricultural Experiment Station of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Doux Lozan. PI No. 162546. Received from France in 1948; held at the U.S. Plant Introduction Station, Glenn Dale, Maryland (MdG). The same clone (PI No. 162546) was received from Glenn Dale, Md., by the Agricultural Experiment Station of Rutgers, New Brunswick, New Jersey (NjB), with reported comments: very late blooming cider apple.
