Origin and History
Edgewood was received by the USDA Agricultural Research Service from multiple sources during the mid-twentieth century. The variety was obtained from Snyder Bros., Center Point, Iowa (station number A33623); from the Agricultural Experiment Station at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; and from Mount Arbor Nursery, Shenandoah, Iowa. Mount Arbor Nursery reported Edgewood as a Jonathan × Salome cross. The variety was maintained at the U.S. Horticultural Field Station, Cheyenne, Wyoming; the Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut; and the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station, Wooster, Ohio.
