Epicurean was received at the USDA from Appleby Fruit Farms, Kingston Abington, Berkshire, England in 1958. The variety was reported by the Agricultural Experiment Station, Department of Pomology, Geneva, New York.

Flesh: Cream-colored, soft, mild, aromatic. Described as good quality and high quality overall.
