Folwell is an open pollinated seedling of Malinda. The variety was maintained at the Agricultural Experiment Station, University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus, and was also received from Summit Nursery, Stillwater, Minnesota.
Tree
The tree resembles Hibernal in growth habit and form. It is reported as a productive, annual bearer.
Fruit
Size and Form: Large fruit.
Color: Poorly colored.
Flavor and Quality: Good dessert and culinary apple.
Season
Harvest occurs in September.
Other
Station No.: A33104 (Wyoming collection). The variety was collected from two reporting stations: the Agricultural Experiment Station, University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus, St. Paul, Minnesota (MnS), and the U.S. Horticultural Field Station, P.O. Box 1250, Cheyenne, Wyoming (WyC).
