Found by Liegel in the Rev. Hofinger's garden at St. Peters, Brunau, before 1851.

Growth habit: Compact, upright spreading

Leaf: Upheld and upfolded, regularly crenate

Fruit

Size and form: Rather large, 2½ by 3; round with slightly rounded eye end

Color: Pale yellow, shaded nearly all over with rich carmine, approaching Gascoynes Seedling in colour

Calyx/eye: Closed, in a very deep and slightly irregular basin

Stem and cavity: Stem short and stout, in a moderately deep cavity, rather irregular in shape

Flesh and flavor: Greenish-white with slight musky flavour

FRAISE D' HOFINGER. G., Hofingers Himbeer Apfel. Dessert, November to March, rather large, 2½ by 3, round, slightly rounded to eye. Colour, pale yellow, shaded nearly all over with rich carmine, approaching Gascoynes Seedling in colour. Flesh, greenish-white, slight musky flavour. Eye, closed, in a very deep and slightly irregular basin. Stem, short and stout, in a moderately deep cavity, rather irregular in shape. Growth, compact, upright spreading. Leaf, upheld and upfolded, regularly crenate. Origin, found by Liegel in the Rev. Hofinger's garden, at St. Peters, Brunau, before 1851. Of no merit except for its lovely colour.
