Gold Ridge

Tree a much stronger grower than its parent, the Newtown Pippin. Fruit large, smooth and as perfect as if turned in a lathe; pale yellow with a crimson cheek; flavor similar to that of the Newtown Pippin with an added aromatic sweetness, surpassing the Newtown Pippin, Baldwin, Greening and other early Winter apples; unusually handsome fruit. A Luther Burbank seedling of Newtown Pippin, named for Burbank's "Gold Ridge" experimental farm at Sebastopol, California. Also marketed as "Goldridge" (one word).
