HERRING'S PIPPIN
AppleHERRING'S PIPPIN
Origin/History
HERRING'S PIPPIN is of undiscovered origin. Bunyard (1920) notes that the origin remains unaccounted for, and that his description was taken from fruits kindly sent to him by Mr. Pearson, who thinks very highly of this variety. Bunyard himself had not grown HERRING'S PIPPIN personally at the time of writing.
HERRING'S PIPPIN was received in the United States from England in 1940, assigned USDA Plant Introduction number 136001, and was reported on by the U.S. Plant Introduction Station, Glenn Dale, Maryland (MdG) (Fisher, 1963).
