Origin and History
Idagold is an apple variety resulting from the cross Wagener × Esopus Spitzenburg. The variety was received by the USDA from the Agricultural Experiment Station at Moscow, Idaho, and was accessioned as USDA Plant Introduction No. 159662 in 1947, received from Idaho. It was reported by the Agricultural Experiment Station, Department of Pomology at Geneva, New York; the Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut; the Agricultural Experiment Station at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania; and the U.S. Plant Introduction Station at Glenn Dale, Maryland.
