Ikorocavka Alaja was received by the United States Department of Agriculture from Italy in 1948 (Plant Introduction No. 161814) and distributed to the U.S. Plant Introduction Station at Glenn Dale, Maryland. A subsequent introduction (Plant Introduction No. 199690) was received from Glenn Dale, Maryland in 1956 and evaluated at the reporting station in New York City.
