This apple was found in Illinois, originating from the orchard of Mr. Montagu, who esteemed it very highly.

Size: Medium

Form: Oblong, ovate, angular

Surface: Mixed, splashed and striped with dull red

Dots: Scattered, distinct, yellow

Cavity: Acute, folded; stem medium, inclined

Basin: Abrupt, folded; eye medium, closed

Flesh: Yellow; rather tough in winter, but becomes melting in June

Flavor: Very sweet

Core and Seeds: Core medium, pyriform, regular, closed, clasping; seeds numerous, angular, plump

Quality: Good; Montagu reported it as the best
