Origin and History

Jonsib is a crab apple resulting from a cross between Jonathan and Irkutsk. It was received by the USDA Agricultural Research Service from the Agricultural Experiment Station at Brookings, South Dakota, and was maintained at the U.S. Horticultural Field Station in Cheyenne, Wyoming, under the station number A38102. The variety was documented in H.H. Fisher's A Survey of Apple Clones in the United States (1963).
