"An important addition to the list of winter apples and especially for the South. Medium to large, round, bright red highly colored. Flesh fine grained, crisp, juicy, sub-acid, very remarkable for its long-keeping qualities, having been kept in good condition until August. A great grower, and abundant and early bearer. We think it will be to the South what the Baldwin has been to New England, and the Northern Spy has been to Western New York. A valuable characteristic of this apple is its remarkable early bearing, coming into bearing as soon as any apple known."
