Fruit
Size: Large.
Form: Obovate pyriform.
Skin: Yellow with a tinge of red in the sun. Russety spots at either end. Some large dots.
Calyx: Large, with long, straight, narrow divisions. Placed in a broad shallow basin.
Stem: An inch and a half long, pretty stout, swollen at its point of insertion.
Flesh/Flavor
Yellowish white, juicy, crisp, and rather firm. Sweet and pleasant. Rated Good.
Season
December to April.
Uses
Good cooking pear. In favorable seasons, of tolerable quality for the table.

One of Van Mons' seedlings. A good cooking Pear, large size, and very distinct from the celebrated "Van Mons Leon le Clerc." In favorable seasons it is of tolerable quality for the table.
Fruit large, obovate pyriform, yellow, tinge of red in the sun, with russety spots at either end, and some large dots. Calyx large, with long, straight, narrow divisions, and placed in a broad shallow basin. Stalk an inch and a half long, pretty stout, swollen at its point of insertion.
Flesh yellowish white, juicy, crisp, and rather firm, sweet, pleasant. Good. December to April.
