Origin and History
Linda is recorded in a 1963 USDA survey of apple clones in the United States. Material was maintained at three reporting stations: the Agricultural Experiment Station at Rutgers University (New Brunswick, New Jersey); the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station (Wooster, Ohio); and the U.S. Horticultural Field Station (Cheyenne, Wyoming). The Ohio station received its material from E. D. Smith & Son, Canada. The Wyoming station received material from Sealer Wheeler of Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada, catalogued under station accession number A38773.
