Origin uncertain; the variety has been known around Maidstone for many years.

Leaves: Rather small, pea green, little upfolded, curved serrate, sharply pointed.

Size: Medium, 2½ by 2½ inches.
Form: Oval, regular.
Skin: Golden-yellow almost covered with rich crimson flush.
Stem: Slender, set in a narrow russet cavity.
Calyx and basin: Eye closed in a shallow ribbed basin.
Flesh: Tender, juicy, yellowish, of good flavour.
Season and Uses
Season: November to January.
Use: Dessert.
