Origin/History

Originated in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on the lands of Mr. Klinger. Reported in both the Annual Report of the Patent Office (Ad. Int. Rep.) and Western sources (W.D.B.).

Vigorous, upright, productive.

Fruit

Size and Form: Medium size, roundish, tapering slightly to the crown, somewhat angular.

Stem: Half an inch long, rather stout (Elliott).

Cavity: Narrow, deep, acuminate (Elliott, Ad. Int. Rep.). One source (Elliott, W.D.B.) describes the cavity as slightly russeted; another (Elliott, Ad. Int. Rep.) attributes the slight russeting to the basin rather than the cavity.

Basin: Narrow, rather deep, slightly russeted (Elliott, Ad. Int. Rep.).

Skin: Yellowish white, with a few russet dots, and nearly covered with a faint orange blush.
