Originated on the farm of Hugh Foster, near Alton Depot, Nelson County, Virginia.

Vigorous with an open spreading head. Bears early and abundantly in alternate years, with a partial crop in intervening years.

Fruit

Size and Form: Medium, roundish oblate, slightly conic, regular.

Stem/Cavity: Stalk short and small. Cavity medium and regular.

Calyx and Basin: Calyx small and closed. Basin rather abrupt, deep, and slightly plaited.

Skin: Smooth, whitish almost waxen, shaded with pale dull red where exposed. Many large light dots, a portion almost obscure, with a few areolae.

Flesh and Flavor: White, fine, tender, juicy, mild, pleasant, sprightly subacid.

Core: Medium.

Season

October through January (indicating ripening in October with storage life extending through January).
