American variety of uncertain origin. First received by F.R. Elliott from A.H. Ernst, Esq., of Cincinnati (Elliott, 1865). Downing (1900) lists the origin as unknown, citing Elliott as the source of his description.

Form: Roundish flattened (Elliott); roundish oblate (Downing).

Stem: Long and slender, with a strong knob at the end where joined to the tree (Elliott).

Cavity: Narrow, rather deep (Elliott).

Calyx: Closed; segments long, connecting, reflexed (Elliott).

Basin: Varying — sometimes moderately deep and regular, sometimes slightly furrowed (Elliott).

Skin: Pale green (Elliott) / greenish (Downing), with suffused white specks and patches of russet about the stem (Elliott; Downing notes patches of russet without specifying location).

Flesh/Flavor: White, crisp, very tender, juicy, sub-acid, and agreeable (Elliott); white, crisp, tender, juicy, subacid (Downing).

Core/Seeds: Core medium; centre capsule open, seed capsules closed; seeds ovate pointed (Elliott).
