Origin unknown. From Central New Jersey. Described by A.J. Downing in The Fruits and Fruit Trees of America (1900).

Size and Form Medium, roundish, oblate, slightly angular.

Cavity Medium; often russeted.

Basin Medium; slightly corrugated.

Skin Golden yellow, shaded with light bright red where exposed. A few nettings of russet and a few grayish dots.

Flesh and Flavor Yellow, fine, a little firm. Juicy, rich, mild, subacid, and slightly aromatic.
