Origin and History

Originated from seed of Duchess, grown by Geo. Dorrance in Rice County, Minnesota, and planted and grown by John Geo. Miller of the same county, about 1867.

Fruit

Size and Form: Medium, regular, oblate.

Skin: Greenish yellow, striped with red.

Stem: Short.

Cavity: Wide, regular, obtuse, green with trace of russet.

Basin: Somewhat ribbed and corrugated, abrupt.

Calyx: Closed; segments erect convergent.

Flesh and Flavor: White, pleasant subacid, good.

Core and Seeds: Core closed. Cells round, slit. Tube funnel-shaped. Stamens marginal. Seeds very large, packed tightly in cells, approximately nine per fruit.
