Origin/History

Originated on the farm now owned by E.C. Sherman, of Wyoming, N.Y. Also known as Sherman's Sweet.

Tree

Tree vigorous, rather spreading. Very productive, bearing on an alternate-year cycle.

Fruit

Size and Form: Medium or above; oblate, angular or slightly ribbed.

Stem: Rather long, slender.

Cavity: Broad, not very deep, a little greenish.

Calyx: Closed.

Basin: Broad, rather deep.

Skin: Greenish yellow, sometimes brownish red in the sun. Moderately sprinkled with light and gray dots.

Flesh: A little coarse, half tender, crisp, juicy, mild, rather rich sweet. Quality: good to very good.

Core: Medium.

Fruit medium or above, oblate, angular or slightly ribbed; skin greenish yellow, sometimes brownish red in the sun, moderately sprinkled with light and gray dots; stalk rather long, slender; cavity broad, not very deep, a little greenish; calyx closed; basin broad, rather deep; flesh a little coarse, half tender, crisp, juicy, mild, rather rich sweet; good to very good; core medium. November, January.
