Origin and History
A German variety, originally documented in 1805. The variety is referenced in Dochnahl's Obstkunde (vol. 2, p. 52, 1856), citing earlier German sources.
Fruit
Size and Form: Fairly large; variable in form, ovate, often conic and ventriculous-pyriform, with sides rather unequal.
Skin: Dull greenish-yellow turning to a fine citron-yellow, without any blush but russeted on the side next the sun. Dots indistinct.
Flesh and Flavor: Not juicy; saccharine with flavor of black currant.
Season
August.
Uses
Second for dessert; very good for kitchen use and very good for market.
