Origin and History
A perry pear of Austria. Referenced in Loschnig Mostbirnen (1913, fig. 1913).
Tree
Moderately vigorous, compact form. An early and regular bearer.
Fruit
Size and Form: Medium, variable, turbinate.
Skin: Greenish-yellow to yellowish-white. Heavily dotted and splotched with russet, especially about the stem and calyx. Often marked with scab spots.
Stem: Medium length, strong, set with little or no depression.
Calyx: Open.
Flesh and Flavor: Yellowish-white, slightly granular, juicy, sweetish, sometimes slightly bitter.
Season
September and October.
Uses
Perry pear (suitable for cider/perry production).
