Origin/History
Aport is a name applied to a pretty well-defined group of Russian apples, of which Alexander is the typical variety. The name has also been applied to a particular Russian variety which closely resembles Alexander (Hansen, S.D. Sta. Bul., 76:26. 1902; Beach, The Apples of New York, Vol. 2, 1905). A specimen was planted at the Central Experimental Farm, Agassiz, BC, in spring 1895.
