Foreign variety. This name has sometimes been confused with the Duchess of Angouleme, which is entirely distinct. Also known as Souverain d'Été or Duchess of Berry. The Duchess de Berri is noted as a synonym of "Pound."

Moderately vigorous, spreading habit. Shoots reddish brown.

Fruit

Medium size, roundish obovate form. Skin clear pale yellow, dotted with small russet specks. Stem short. Calyx small. Flesh yellowish white, rather coarse, melting, juicy, and sugary. Seeds large.
