Origin and History The SCARLET GOLDEN PIPPIN originated as a bud sport of the Golden Pippin in Scotland around 1820.
Tree Growth is moderate; the variety is fertile.
Fruit Very small, 1⅝ by 1¼ inches, with a square round form. The skin is yellow, nearly covered with a scarlet flush. The flesh is crisp, yellow, and aromatic. The eye is open, set in a shallow basin. The stem is rather long and slender, set in a small cavity.
Season and Storage A dessert variety keeping until March.
Uses Dessert apple; suitable for eating fresh.
Other The SCARLET GOLDEN PIPPIN is now little grown and of no remarkable merit.
