Of Massachusetts. Originated on the farm of Nath. Carter, Leominster, Mass. (Downing). Warder described specimens received from Luke Lincoln, of Leominster, Mass.

Size: Medium (Warder); above medium (Downing).
Form: Round, flattened, slightly angular (Warder); roundish oblate (Downing).
Stem: Long (Warder); stalk short (Downing).
Cavity: Deep; acute, wavy (Warder). Stalk inserted in a deep cavity (Downing).
Calyx: Closed. Eye small (Warder). Set in a large basin (Downing).
Basin: Shallow, folded (Warder); large (Downing).
Skin: Smooth (Warder). Yellow, mixed and splashed with scarlet (Warder); yellow, slightly shaded, striped, and marbled with red (Downing).
Dots: Rare, minute (Warder).
Flesh and flavor: Flesh yellowish white, breaking, juicy (Warder); tender, rather coarse, juicy (Downing). Flavor subacid, aromatic (Warder); pleasant, subacid (Downing). Quality "good" (Warder); "Good to very good" (Downing).
Core and seeds: Core rather large, regular, closed, clasping (Warder); core small (Downing). Seeds plump and imperfect, pointed (Warder).
