Origin and History

An Italian autumn pear, documented in 19th-century pomological literature (Christ, 1817; Guide Pratique, 1876).

Fruit Description

Size and Form Medium fruit; obtuse-pyriform (blunt pear shape).

Color and Surface Greenish-yellow ground color, much covered with yellowish-gray russet. Lighter yellow on the sunny side, with some red blush present.

Flesh and Flavor Flesh agreeable, with a pronounced Muscat flavor.

Season

Autumn pear; ripens November through December.

Quality Rating

Third (Hedrick's quality classification, indicating good but not superior quality).
