Referenced by Duhamel (Traité des Arbres Fruitiers, 1768) and documented in Annales de Pomologie Belge (1853) and Downing's Fruit Trees of America (1869). A striped variant of the Long Green of Autumn pear; the two differ in that Verte-longue panachee has the wood and fruit striped with green and yellow bands, and the leaves occasionally striped with yellow. Coxe (1817) lists the variety by name and number (No. 29) without further description.
